Microwave Sensing, Signals and Systems (MS3)

Department of Microelectronics

Area: Wireless systems for remote sensing and navigation, including microwave systems and radar applications

The Microwave Sensing, Signals and Systems (MS3) group educates and performs theoretical and experimental research over a complete chain of wireless systems for remote sensing and navigation ranging from electromagnetic waves radiation, propagation and scattering through analog and digital microwave signal processing to detection, positioning and tracking, navigation, classification and imaging of objects in complex environments...

The research is focused in two areas: microwave wireless systems (both analogue and digital parts) and radar applications (including air-vehicle navigation and synthetic vision).

The group has been created in 2009 as a result of a split of the former Telecommunication and Teleobservation Technology (TTT) group into the Remote Sensing of Environment (RSE) and the Microwave Technology and Systems for Radar (MTSR) groups. On September 1, 2012, the MTSR group became a part of Microelectronics Department of the EWI Faculty and renamed as Microwave Sensing, Signals and Systems (MS3). The group is chaired by Professor Alexander Yarovoy.
